Gorski Kotar has recently received several new facilities, which has further enriched its offer!
In addition to the new permanent exhibition of the Natural History Museum of Rijeka and the Interpretation Centre in the Zrinski Castle in Brod na Kupi, the Zrinski Castle in Čabar also received a new Interpretation Centre.
And in the immediate vicinity of the picturesque Frankopan Castle Stara Sušica is the new Visitor Center “Large Carnivores” which valorizes the natural heritage of Gorski Kotar which is one of the few areas in Europe where all three big beasts live – bear, wolf and lynx!
The multimedia exhibition brings the story of three charismatic beasts and their role in nature and the ecosystem in which they live as predators at the top of the food chain. So far, it has been visited by more than 3000 visitors, and soon they will introduce additional activities such as workshops for children and guided tours (search and observation of traces of large carnivores in their habitat), storytelling workshops, forest pedagogy, etc.
