Promotion of sound picture books and the new YouTube channel of the project

On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, the promotion of sound picture books and the new YouTube channel of the project was held in the Frankopan castle Grobnik.

In Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, eight interpretation centres are being made within the Cultural-Tourist Route The Routes of the Frankopans. At the same time, more and more citizens are learning about the Frankopan heritage through the Internet. The YouTube channel “Putovima Frankopana” is especially responsible for that. During the corona crisis, sound picture books inspired by the Frankopan castles in which the interpretation centres are located, were published on it. These are the castles of Krk, Bribir, Bakar, Kraljevica, Grobnik, Trsat, Čabar and Brod na Kupi.

Thanks to The Routes of the Frankopans project, historical facts and stories about the Frankopans are interpreted in a new, exciting way and they encourage citizens to explore more than five and a half centuries of Croatian history marked by a lineage of 114 Frankopans in 17 generations. Since the educational content about Frankopans intended for primary school children, including quizzes, storytelling and creative workshops, was suspended at the beginning of the corona crisis, it was decided to create multimedia content intended for the youngest.

The titles of the picture books are Three Brothers and Three Towers, A Grobnik Watermill, The Girls from Bribir, A Journey on a Bakar Sailing Ship, The Wilful Wand, The Treasure of Trsat, The Miners from Čabr and A Band of Dormice.

Sound picture books were recorded based on printed editions of the picture books for which the text was written by Velid Đekić, and the illustrations were created by Margareta Peršić. Free PDF formats of the picture books are available on our website – https://frankopani.eu/en/all-multimedia/print-media/.

As part of The Routes of the Frankopans project, five clothing creations inspired by Katarina Zrinski will soon be made. These creations will connect fashion, history and art in a unique way.

The Routes of the Frankopans project was launched by Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in 2005 with the aim of restoring, preserving, protecting and sustainable use of Frankopan’s tangible and intangible heritage. The project is worth HRK 61 million, and its third phase is underway, which was financed with HRK 47.3 million in grants from the European Union’s structural funds.
