Open Days of Zrinski Castle in Brod na Kupi until the end of August 2021

From Friday, July 30, 2021, in the Zrinski Castle in Brod na Kupi (Kralja Tomislava 1), the “Open Days” will begin, which will last throughout August. From Tuesday to Sunday, during working hours from 10:00 to 16:00, visitors will be able to see free of charge the new permanent exhibition of the Natural History Museum of Rijeka “Wildlife with Sea View” and “Interpretation Centre Brod na Kupi”, made through the project Cultural-tourist route “The Routes of the Frankopans”.

In the permanent exhibition “Wildlife with a Sea View”, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the Natural History Museum of Rijeka present to visitors the natural heritage of Gorski Kotar – from the Kupa Valley and karst underground, through the most important forest communities, mountains above the forest border to the sky and clouds. The exhibition shows the features, curiosities and peculiarities of the nature of the Gorski Kotar area, but also the elements of the traditional coexistence of man and nature in this area. The extremely atmospheric display allows visitors to peek into the tiny world of moss and lichen, visit the cold and dark sinkhole, explore the mine, feel the extreme weather on the mountain, try climbing an artificial rock and discover hidden exhibits or even meet birds live.

In the ground floor of Zrinski Castle, the “Interpretation Centre Brod na Kupi”, one of the eight modern multimedia interpretation centres on the cultural-tourist route “The Routes of the Frankopans”, has been arranged. Each interpretation centre has its own theme, and the theme of this centre is the relationship of the Frankopan and Zrinski families to nature.

Both facilities make an exceptional tourist attraction in the Castle, which dates from the 17th century, and is located in the border area, at the entrance to Croatia from the direction of Slovenia.

A total of around 5.2 million kuna was invested in the decoration and equipping of the Zrinski Castle in Brod na Kupi, of which almost 4.6 million kuna was provided through the EU projects “KRASn’KRŠ” and “Cultural-tourist route The Routes of the Frankopans”.

Welcome to Brod na Kupi to conquer the wilderness with a sea view!

Working hours: Tuesday – Sunday 10:00 – 16:00 hours (closed on Mondays, holidays and public holidays)
